The befores and afters

Gunner is downstairs right now with what seems to be a raging ear infection. My kids hardly get them and Sophie had one a week ago exactly, and we took her to the doctor on Sat. Gunner started coughing Friday too. Ended up taking him to the doc on Monday because the cough kept getting worse. He has illness induced asthma, so it goes straight to his lungs. Which means lots of scary nights of wheezing and shallow breath. We are no strangers to Albuterol and the nebulizer. While at the doctor's, she said Gunner had the beginning of an ear infection, but it was really too early to treat. We were to call when and if he complained. Well, he got off the bus and the bus driver said he had been complaining his ear hurt. He started crying right away and I could tell he was in some pain. We have a great pediatrician and office so they called right back, let me use sophie's antibiotics for her ear infection a week ago, on gunner at a smaller dose, so I wouldn't have to wait for the pharmacy to fill it. I made him a fresh rice bag to add some heat and he finally fell asleep.

Soooo, here are the before and afters for the house.  I can't remember if I explained or not.  We live with Chris' brother and wife, Aaron and Jennifer.  We live in the basement portion and they live on the main floor.  We share the kitchen, sewing room, laundry etc.  We have two refrigerators, two deep freezes two pantries and three different buses get our kids to school.   Chris' mom and dad bought the house, a HUGE  house, but it had been foreclosed on and empty for 4 years.  We aren't sure how long this living situation will last.  It just all kind of happened at the same time we rented out our condo and Aaron got a new job up here.  So we have 6 kids, 4 adults and  it's been pretty awesome.   On to the pictures.

Main living room wall

The stairway downstairs was a nasty mustardy, baby poopy yellow brown.

Here it is.  Much better.  These high vaulted ceilings and weird angles made it difficult.

SEVEN, count em seven of the rooms had wall paper trim.  This was in the master bed.  Gone.

And Jennifer is still decided what color, but how nice of them to not pain all the way up...
Laundry room had wallpaper trim
Can you spot it?   I mean, this house was built in 2004.  I didn't know they still even made wallpaper trim then.

Do you know the trick to getting wallpaper trim down?  Downy fabric softener.  I consider myself a pro at this point.  3 parts downy to 1 part water.  Really saturate the wallpaper and it should peel off, then saturate the glue really well it if you pull from the right side, it comes off pretty easy.

The circus room.

Now looks like this

The other kids room upstairs.  Still there because the little girls really loved it.  Sophie really wanted this room.

The office/ creative working space.  Dark, deep plum.  Now it is Fossil Butte.

This wall has been painted

The basement!!!  I can see in the top picture in the far corner the hole, and the carpet pulled away because of the plumbing problem.

Hole fixed, carpet fixed.  We painted the ceiling after making a paint match and soon realized that the ceiling is not the same color as the wall, is no the same color and the next room, but very close.

Our bathroom before.  Wasn't too bad, just some holes and all the bathrooms were missing mirrors.

We filled the empty space with shelves, although I still plan to cover the shelves with something so it isnt' ugly.  I also painted.  You will notice the rustic wall trim.  This room and the princess girls room upstairs are the only ones left with the trim.  And it bugs me that our shower curtain doesn't match, but it matched super cute in our condo.  Oh well.
Our room.  The raider room.  This wall paper trim was glued on top of glued and took me 4-5 hours to get off.  It was my first attempt at wall paper removal so maybe it wouldn't take me as long now.

And the big reveal. :)  This picture is blown out but it is a pretty buttery yellow.  MUCH better for a basement than dark gray.

This is a little better look at the color.  I got the Moroni angle when I was in Nauvoo this summer.
The kids room.  AKA the blue Buzz room.  Seriously.  Another dark color in an already dark basement.  And they so lovingly painted the closets floor to ceiling the same color.

This is the pink camo room now.  I showed a picture of the camo somewhere in a previous post.

This room looks normal, but just behind the square box to cover the pipes, was texture spray and three different colors of mossy green.  It is now the same color as the stairway and upstairs.

And Gunner's throat now hurts.  Good thing he is already on antibiotics, but I hope it isn't strep!!!

January

Sophie rang in the new year by  loosing her second tooth. We were at the Carlson's for a party and it had been loose for a month.    I had tried a couple of times, but it wouldn't budge.  We tried again and out it came.  I hate the feeling of tooth on tissue.  Same thing with unloading clean glass dishes.   That feeling...

Anyway, 2 gone, lots to go.  Made her another nighty, this time out of flannel.
Jennifer and I joke that we are sister wives.  It isn't a bad concept... :)
The cousins are having a blast playing together.  If Sophie had her way, she and Czarina, Bella, and Olivia would be connected at the hip.  They wanted me to take pictures of their toddler dolls with glitter stickers.

Sophie and Bella were in charge of Family Home Evening last night, and it concluded with a scripture movie and popcorn.

Gunner is growing, growing, growing and really likes playing bowling with the kinect.  He still says funny things.  He called me a knuckle head, tells us that his poop is going to be a really big one,  tells me I am the best mommy ever to butter me up when he tries to /gets to crawl into bed in the middle of the night.  He calls Makayla and Olivia by their first and middle names when he is mad at them.  At FHE last night we were signing songs and he changed the words from itsy bitsy spider.  Down came the rain and washed the spider out...of my butt.  He really is sweet, but he gets funnier and funnier.  I need to start writing them down when I hear them, because I can't remember them all.

I started my travel wall.  I have lots to add and lots more places to go.  My favorite travel quote is, "I haven't been everywhere, but it is on my list".
We are trying to teach Sophie the value of earning something.  It has been a hard concept for her.  She keeps saying, "I promise I will appreciate if you just give it to me now!".

Chris has passed by this field a couple of times and found some eagles feasting, so we took a drive to see them.  But by the time we got there them turned into him.

We have a great hill next to us and since we have had some good snow we have gone a couple of times
